Child budgeting workshop

Child Budgeting workshop was conducted BY Hiwot Ethiopia on 17 December 2020 to 41 Sector Heads (Standing Committees) of Councils represented from six target Woredas in Addis Ababa city. Councils have the constitutional mandate to monitor and review the performances of government sectors (offices) on regular bases using checklists that are developed for this purpose. As such, Councils play an instrumental role in advocating allocation of budget for the most vulnerable children and influence duty bearers and decision makers to fulfill, protect and respect the rights of children. Therefore, this workshop aimed to stimulate greater understanding of child focused budgeting, advocacy and monitoring approaches and to enhance their commitment as well. So that Councils are expected to revise their monitoring tools (checklists) and include child right focused issues which are used to enforce sector office to allocate sufficient budget beyond integrating the rights of children in their program planning and service delivery.
