A high-level advocacy workshop with members of the House of Representatives was arranged by Hiwot Ethiopia in association with the Ethiopian office of Save the Children International and CCRDA.
Attendees include members of the standing committees on social development and health as well as budget, planning, and finance with a focus on child-focused budgeting. Senior representatives from the invited sector ministries of Education, justice, women and social affairs, health, and finance also participated in the advocacy workshop. In addition to discussing the significance of child-focused budgeting by the social sector with legislators, experts from sector ministries and CSOs presented
their findings on budget preparation experiences, policy, legislation, and conventions, both nationally and internationally, at the workshop. During the advocacy workshop, members of the standing committees on health and social development, as well as budget, planning, and finance, were presented with important policy questions regarding child-focused budgeting.
