“Hiwot” means “Life”.

Hiwot Ethiopia was initially established as a youth club by fourteen young people who wished to make a difference. From these small beginnings, Hiwot Ethiopia grew and developed into an association, then a
registered NGO with the Charities and Societies Agency as an Ethiopian Civil Society Organization/NGOs/ charity focused on working with children and youth. Hiwot Ethiopia delivers a range of multi-year projects with a number of local and international partners.

  Mission

Hiwot  Ethiopia’s  mission  is  to  work  for  the  positive  development  of  community through,

  • raising awareness  of  issues  affecting  children  and  youth  and  working  to  change  attitudes and practices that are harmful to them,
  • Providing practical support and health services to children and youth,
  • building the  capacity  and  skills  of  children  and  youth,  partner  organizations  and  its  own capacity and expertise,
  • ensuring participation and sustainability and
  • networking and partnership

Strategic Goal                                                                    

Strategic Goal 1: Improve the life children, youth and women’s through SRH, FP, maternal health, RMNCH, Nutrition, WASH and other gender sensitive health interventions.

Strategic Goal 2: Improve the situation of children, girls and youth by helping them to have quality education

Strategic Goal 3: Promote wellbeing of children’s, girls and women’s through capacity building and strengthen community- based protection and prevention mechanism

Strategic Goal 4:  Improving livelihood and food security status of youths, and women/girls through various IGAs and economic support.

Strategic Goal 5:   Improve organizational capacity of CBOs, CSOs, government partners working for better wellbeing of children and youth
